In recent years boiler warranties have become extremely competitive. It has become the instrument that manufacturers use to promote the reliability of their boilers.  Homeowner, Landlord or Business it means complete peace of mind and no repair bills for the duration of the warranty.

How do I get an 18-year warranty?

Most of the boilers we install have a warranty for 5-18 years. ATAG are at the leading edge offering 12 or 18 year parts and labour cover.  Vaillant are a German manufacturer who offer warranties of up to 10 years. Vaillant who now own Glowworm offer the same.  Ideal, Baxi, Worcester Bosch and Ideal all offer the same.  A 10 Year Parts & Labour warranty is also available from Ideal Boilers.  In order to honour this, the manufacturer requires the installation to be carried out by a Gas Safe Registered and  Accredited Installer, like ourselves.

What is covered?

The warranty covers the entire product for all parts and labour.  For this reason, if it is practical we recommend you have your current heating system converted to a combination boiler system.  This involves the disconnection of loft header tanks, hot water cylinder and all associated valves and controls.  If you view your boiler replacement as an investment spread over 10, 12 or 18 years the cost will not seem as high.  Especially considering that any repair bills for the following 10-18 years will only be for radiators and pipework which should be unlikely.

Are there any catches?

No!  However, the boiler manufacturer will require that you have your boiler serviced annually by an Accredited and Gas Safe Engineer.  At Andover Gas Engineers Ltd boiler servicing for a domestic sized boiler is £90.00 (£75+VAT.  This includes cleaning of condensate traps, checking all seals and electrical connections, flue inspection and combustion testing with a flue gas analyser. A Gas Safety Certificate will be emailed to you on completion.

What happens if I have a boiler breakdown?

As you can imagine, nobody puts a 10 year, let alone an 18 Year warranty on a boiler that is likely to breakdown.  However, on rare occasions this does happen for a variety of reasons. If this should happen, you contact ourselves or the manufacturer direct who will arrange for one of their engineers to visit your property usually within 1-3 days.  The engineer usually carries all parts for your boiler and will repair your boiler during the visit without charge.  He may wish to see the boiler log book to confirm that annual servicing has been taking place on time.  Throughout the year you will be also able to contact ourselves if you need any further advice.
